Emerencia Pincészet, established in 1993 in Olaszliszka, has roots in viticulture dating back to 1986. Focused on quality over quantity, they cultivate 5 hectares of prime vineyards (Rány, Rudnok, Haraszt) ideal for noble rot, producing complex wines with unique microclimates.  With about 20,000 bottles annually, focusing on traditional Tokaji wines like Aszú, Aszúeszencia, and Eszencia, made with spontaneous fermentation. Their intimate wine cellar seats 40, perfect for wine dinners and gatherings to experience these unique wines.
At the helm of the artisan Emerencia Winery, founder Emerencia Hermann works alongside her daughters to craft traditional Tokaji wines with a deep-seated passion for quality and heritage.  As of 2026, the legacy of Emerencia Selection continues and is further driven by Hermann’s two daughters: Laura Varga, a trained viticulture engineer who manages daily operations and serves as the estate’s public ambassador, and Alice (Aliz) Varga, who is equally involved in the family’s boutique production.

Together, they uphold the artisanal traditions established by their mother in the Olaszliszka region of Tokaj. By prioritizing spontaneous fermentation and meticulous vineyard selection, the family preserves centuries-old winemaking techniques while showcasing the unique, expressive character of the Olaszliszka terroir.

VT Borfőnök Reviews – 2026

Wine Tasting Experience:

  • Aszú 2014 5 puttonyos: VT Gold Medal with a score of 94/100, Emerencia’s 2014 Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is a masterful expression of Hungary’s Tokaji region, showcasing the winery’s dedication to traditional craftsmanship. This exquisite dessert wine boasts an intoxicating aroma profile, with notes of dried apricot, honeyed citrus, and subtle spices wafting from the glass. Rich, velvet textures unfold with flavors of candied orange peel, botrytized stone fruits, and toasted almonds, balanced by a crisp acidity and lingering sweetness. Handcrafted with precision and care, Emerencia’s Aszú 5 Puttonyos exemplifies the winery’s commitment to quality and tradition. With 159.3 g/L sugar, 9.5% ABV, and 9.42 g/L acid, this wine is a sumptuous treat for the senses. Savor it with foie gras, rich cheeses, or decadent chocolate desserts – or enjoy it on its own, sipped slowly to appreciate its nuanced complexity. A true showcase of Tokaj’s highest standards of excellence.
  • Tokaji Szamorodni 2013: VT Gold Medal with a score of 91/100, it was a unique treat to indulge in Emerencia’s 2013 Tokaji Szamorodni, a lenticular dessert wine that delights the senses with its harmonious notes, honeyed sweetness, and fruity aromas. The wine’s deep golden yellow color is as inviting as its botrytis-infused complexity, a true reflection of the Tokaji wine region’s esteemed terroir. With 13.5% ABV, 85.2 g/L sugar, and a crisp acidity of 7.2 g/L, this wine is a masterclass in balance, pairing effortlessly with sweet treats like tart lemon cakes or rich chocolate soufflés. Savor it on its own as a dessert, or explore its versatile pairing possibilities – either way, it’s a treat not to be missed.
